AC Repair & Diagnostics in New York City

When an air conditioner stops cooling, leaks water, freezes or makes unusual noise, the visible symptom is not always the root cause. YATSON diagnoses the system before recommending parts or replacement, then explains the practical repair options for your equipment and space.

01

AC problems we diagnose

Cooling problems can come from airflow restrictions, controls, electrical components, drainage, coils or the refrigerant circuit. A proper diagnosis prevents unnecessary part replacement and repeat visits.

  • System runs but does not cool the space
  • Indoor unit leaks water or the drain repeatedly clogs
  • Coils or refrigerant lines freeze
  • Unit short-cycles, will not start or trips a breaker
  • Weak airflow, unusual noise, vibration or odor
  • Thermostat, remote control or zone does not respond correctly

02

Systems we service

We work with the cooling and heat-pump equipment commonly found in New York apartments, homes, offices and small commercial spaces. Model numbers and photos help us prepare before the visit.

  • Single-zone and multi-zone ductless mini-splits
  • Central split air-conditioning systems
  • Air-source heat pumps used for heating and cooling
  • Ceiling cassette and compact ducted indoor units
  • Rooftop and light-commercial equipment within our service scope

03

Repair or replacement?

The right decision depends on equipment age, condition, refrigerant type, repair history, efficiency, parts availability and the cost of the current failure. We can document what we find and discuss both repair and replacement when both are realistic options.

  • Repair may make sense when the system is otherwise sound and parts are available
  • Replacement may be more practical after repeated major failures or severe deterioration
  • Final pricing and warranty terms are documented in the written proposal

FAQ

Questions about ac repair

Why is my AC running but not cooling? +

Common causes include a dirty filter or coil, restricted airflow, an electrical component failure, thermostat problems, low refrigerant or a refrigerant leak. Testing is needed before deciding which repair is appropriate.

Can you just add refrigerant? +

Not always. If a system is low, the cause may be a leak. Adding refrigerant without checking the system can produce only temporary improvement and leave the underlying problem unresolved.

What should I send before the appointment? +

Send the brand and model number, photos of the indoor and outdoor units, any error code, a description of the symptom and when it began. This helps us prepare the right diagnostic approach.

Do you repair equipment in co-op and condo buildings? +

We can evaluate work in co-op and condo buildings. Please tell us about building access and management requirements when you request service.
